Security in Christ

Courage grows through faith in God. In the Bible, David dared to face Goliath in spite of his brother’s lack of faith in his ability to do so. Do you face a challenge and say “Yes, I can do this with God’s help”? When discouraging thoughts quickly follow making you feel insecure, do you listen and bail out? Or do you capture those thoughts and throw them overboard, and press on for Christ? This is the spiritual battle. Welcome to my world. I started singing and performing when I was in my teen years and I would forget lyrics in the middle of a song. I would be devastated! Yet, somehow after a period of “I’m never doing this again”, God would prompt me and I would once again attempt to climb this mountain. After I started leading worship singing at church regularly, I really grew to feel at home in front of a congregation, sharing in worshipping the Great “I Am”  together. My nervousness in performing solo still was overwhelming though. It was only after I began writing songs with God’s help that I was able to have a different perspective. Each song I write is written with lots of prayer and consultation with my Lord and I sing these songs for Him and for His glory. So now, when I share these songs, I’m not worrying about people’s reactions, I leave that in God’s hands and simply obey Him by sharing His message to everyone. I won’t say that I am not at all nervous but I am definitely not incapacitated by it and am enjoying sharing and singing with those who come and listen. Through my walk of faith, Jesus has helped me to conquer the fear and insecurities, and continues to help me capture discouraging thoughts and throw them overboard.

Rom 8:33-35, 37-39 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?… But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Set your mind and heart and on Jesus Christ and press on for Him! Learn from your mistakes and lean on His strength. He will be with you.

Ps 37:3-6 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him and He will do it. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light.
